Hyphen magazine and Chinese for Affirmative Action have collaborated with Project Michelle and the Asian American Donor Program to bring a bone marrow drive to the heart of the Bay Area to increase the registration numbers of Asian Americans.

U.S. rights to Jessica Yu's PING PONG PLAYA have been picked up by IFC Films with a planned theatrical release slated for September 5th. The film, which marks the fiction feature debut for Yu, closed the Asian-American Film Festival July 19th in New York.

Since November 4th I’ve been feeling a mixture of relief and post-election blues — not just for the way that people voted, but for the whole process finally being over. This election season has been so long and bizarre that I had to see it through the filter of satire, with daily doses of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and more recently the Saturday Night Live sketches which essentially wrote themselves.

I've been thinking about the idea of suspicion lately. There is a lot to be wary about, and yet the idea of suspicion presents an infinite range of possibility – for the creation of counter-narratives and counter-cultures, for example. I would argue that there must be some slight inkling of suspicion that continues to motivate the work that CAAM does today.
