Can’t wait for the SFIAAFF screening of the Bollywood extravaganza OM SHANTI OM? For now you can check out JODHAA AKBAR, a HUGE epic from Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of Lagaan and Swades (SFIAAFF ‘05), starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, and featuring music by A. R. Rahman.

If you’re in the Bay Area, it’s playing right now at Balboa Theatre through Feb 28. Elsewhere, find an Indian movie theater near you, and it’s likely to be playing.

I haven’t seen the film yet, but an acquaintance just saw it at the Balboa and raved in an email to me: “If you haven’t had time to see it yet, drop what you’re doing and go. It’s a four-hour knockout! Armies of elephants, horses, camels—and even bunny rabbits!” Now, I’ve always been a sucker for films with elephants, so you know where to find me this weekend.
